Luxury Escapes. A moment in The Peninsula Hotel Tokyo

I am inspired by the people I meet during my travels;  what they eat; what they do, who they are,and where they call home…

I love stepping into a small part of their daily lives – nudging the periphery of what it might be like to spend longer than a ‘holiday’ in their part of the world.

Even if our language differs, there is always a way to communicate – express ourselves…

As for most photographic opportunities; this one might not have been if I had chosen to linger a moment longer in my room. It was mid morning as I walked through the lobby of The Peninsula Tokyo, on my way out to the shopping streets of Ginza.  I noticed a group of well dressed people congregating near the entrance – the bellman let me know in a whisper that a wedding party was on the way…

I had just enough time to whip out my camera before the beautiful bride –  in a confection of tulle – swept in.  So gorgeous was the sight, the entire room stopped to clap; businessmen in meetings and families finishing breakfast…we bonded in the moment. Just as quickly the event passed and I was off into the streets, wondering if it had all been a dream.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL MOMENT?

DO YOU LOVE WATCHING A WEDDING AS MUCH AS I DO?

A Grown Up’s Gap Year – The Newsletter #28

If your brain is already halfway to the holidays, this week’s A Grown Up’s Gap Year – The Podcast episode is an armchair ticket to a Greek Island.

I’m talking with artist Desiree Prinsloo, who divides her time between Sydney and the island of Hydra – and who describes mid-life as middle youth. I could not love this sentiment more.

Dear Blokes #4

If the woman you love keeps half-joking about a Greek island, a beach shack or a hotel down the road (without you), it’s usually not just about the house.
